Circle Time

The other night, as I was telling this story to a friend, it occurred to me that I should really share my embarrassment. Several weeks ago, I was wearing slippery socks on my in-laws hardwood stairs. Yep, you guessed it, I slipped. I not only slipped, I fell so hard that everyone jumped up from the dining room table and ran to see if I was still alive. Cornell was directly in front of me on the stairs when it happened and he seemed unable to decide how to handle the situation. He chose to smack my behind as hard as he could once I stood up. Wowee, did I ever see stars.

Comicly, I not only landed once, I bounced down the next 3 - 4 stairs. All of this bouncing left me with an incredibly large purply/black bruise on my left cheek. It also was so sore I could barely sit on it for a few days.

Anyway, the kids took turns checking the progress of the bruise each morning, oohing and ahhing about the fireworks display of color on my bummy. One evening though, I was making dinner and Cornell stood at the counter chopping something for me. He says, "Hey, mom, I told Mrs. Simon about your big, black bummy today." WHAT??!!

Poor Kindergarten teachers, it never ceases to amaze me what 6 year olds feel is shareable information.
