Cornell is rarely getting ready for school in the morning. Below is a short list of things I have found him doing instead of.....getting ready for school.
- Spinning his hamster, Sparky, around and around in his exercise ball.
- Throwing wadded up bits of wet toilet paper onto the bathroom ceiling to see if they would stick. Thanks go out to my dad on this one for sharing such a fond childhood memory with Cornell.
- Dressing in my bra stuffed with socks and my shoes and declaring, "Look, I'm Mama".
- Trying to hold a chicken in place on the strawberry pot on the porch to "get me an egg".
- Dancing with the cat.
- Sniffing out and stealing candy.
- Making "speramints" in the kitchen with milk, green food coloring, oatmeal and salt.
- Watching a workout/fitness show on PBS for a half hour because I left the television on the wrong channel and he isn't allowed to use the remote.
- Climbing the shelves in the kitchen while trying to find candy. An especially loud "accident" crash happened this morning. After putting 400 potatoes and 200 onions back in their baskets, Cornell brought me one more "puny-ish" onion to be put away.
- Running around as loudly as it takes to wake up Conway. Oh, and then saying it was an "accident".
- Asking for impossible breakfast choices. Meatloaf. Spaghetti. A baked "Sweetie" potato. Mini Blueberry Pancakes...."no, not that kind, the kind I get at Ba's" (my mother's). Apparently, homemade blueberry cornmeal pancakes with real maple syrup do not compare to Eggo mini-blueberry pancakes from the microwave.
And finally...
- Creating a waterpark in the bathroom sink for three slugs he found inside a toy when he was running compost to the compost pile barefooted on an October morning. Complete with a straw slide.
