Every week, we have family spa time. The kiddos take baths (extra long), wash hair (extra well), and then we wrap them up in big fluffy towels and put them on the couch. We then lotion them from head to toe, trim finger and toenails, dry their hair and put them in clean pj's. A big change from our typical summer routine, which is play outside until past bedtime, catch some lightning bugs and then fall into bed still in our clothes and dirt. A glorious exit from the routined school schedule of most of the year.
Last night, Cornell was absolutely against have his nails trimmed. He told me that he had "big plans" for his nails. He reported, "I am gonna win the award show for longest fingernails and toenails". Gross. I finally convinced him that he could trim his own. And considering how fingernail clippers could almost be a weapon, he was excited and set to work.
This morning as I laid in bed staring at the ceiling, wondering why I had waited up for Hubby to get home from an out of town concert in the early morning hours, I heard this.
Taylor (on the couch watching early cartoons): "Owwww, Cornell, you scratched me with your fingernails!" "Eeeeeewww, Moooooooooom, Cornell's fingernails are all cut into daggers!"
Why am I not surprised.
