Cornell busily worked on a project all morning before school today. He had been digging in our junk drawer and found a smallish door knocker in the shape of a slender ladies hand with an engagement ring on it. It was his great-grandfather's. He set it up on the floor and propped it open with a stray checker in order to build a trap. He left a quarter on the inside lip on the door knocker, just below the propped up fingers. When I passed by and asked what he was trying to catch, he replied, "a leprechaun, they love money".
A few minutes later, I noticed a Hansel and Gretel style trail of tiny blue objects winding their way across our floor and up to the aforementioned door knocker. I asked what the blue things were and he replied, "Gum, I decided to catch a leprechaun named Conway... he loves gum". He does indeed, laddie.
