Yesterday a huge FexEx truck made it's way down our long, narrow, gravel driveway. It was dropping off the results for a contest we had entered. We had high hopes of winning the grand prize of $5,000 for our charity of choice. We ended up as a secondary winner of $1,000. Still, not too shabby for a day writing an essay, oh, yeah, and tons of hours volunteering, but who's counting. The essay we wrote was in response to a contest theme of "Families Who Volunteer Together".
Cornell seemed very interested in the certificate as Hubby pulled it out of the FedEx envelope. I explained to him that we were not keeping the money, but giving it to the Second Harvest Food Bank so that the organization could buy lots more food to feed people who were hungry. And that Second Harvest Food Bank was our "charity of choice".
Later I heard him explaining it to Not-Yet-Two-Year-Old Conway saying, "we get to give the $3,000 to the celebrity of our choice".
I won't hold my breath for an interview with Ryan Seacrest.
